A great way to meet a lot of women in a short amount of time is to participate in speed dating, a trend that has caught on singles circles. What typically happens is a host or moderator times couples and gives them anywhere from three to ten minutes to get to know each other.
Participants fill out cards on each person they meet. After the last session, the host collects the cards and matches those who have mutual interest. Most of the time, there is more than one match – often as many as six or seven. Once the participants have personal information on others who are interested, it's up to them to figure out what to do.
Advance Preparation in Speed Dating
Since speed dating is timed, it's a good idea to do some advance preparation for the session. Jot down a list of generic questions that provide an overview of the other person. The women will probably ask questions about the men's background, so it's also good to have a short bio that doesn't take more than a minute to tell.
Speed Dating Questions
Speed dating questions should be interesting and get past the astrological sign cliché. Formulate questions that are sincere and interesting without coming across as trying too hard.
Here are some interesting questions to learn about the women:
- "How many siblings do you have?"
- "What is your favorite pastime or sport?"
- "What do you do for a living? Why did you choose that field?"
- "Have you ever been married? If so, for how long? How long have you been divorced?"
- "What do you look for in a guy?"
- "Do you smoke?"
If there's more time, consider asking one or more of these questions:
- "What is your favorite food or drink?"
- "How many friends do you have on Facebook or other social networking site?"
- "What would you do if you were given a million dollars with the stipulation that you had to spend it in 24 hours?"
- "What was your first car and how did you get it?"
Well Groomed Appearance Appeals to Women
Most women appreciate a man who practices good hygiene, so take a shower, clean all ten fingernails and wear clean clothes. If the event is casual, wear nice slacks and a collared knit shirt. For a more formal speed dating event, wear a suit and tie.
Show Confidence on a Date
Even the most self-conscious guy can appear self-confident for a few minutes. It may take practice in front of the mirror, but work on it until it comes easy. Most women like men who are self-confident, but don't mistake that for arrogance, which will work against the best of intentions. When the confidence starts to fade, smile and make eye contact. A pleasant expression will make any woman feel a stronger connection, even if the initial attraction isn't there.
Sitting up straight and using meaningful gestures while talking show confidence. However, don't exaggerate gestures, or the nerves will be apparent. Avoid staring at her chest or any other part of her anatomy and keep your focus primarily on her eyes.
Show Interest in Her as a Person
Most women want to be accepted and appreciated as people, even if they're drop-dead gorgeous. It's okay to compliment her on her looks, but don't forget what's behind the pretty face. All compliments should be sincere. Look her in the eye and ask questions that show appreciation for her thoughts and feelings. She's much more likely to have a good first impression and consider another date if she has more than a physical connection.
Follow Up After a Speed Dating Session
After the host collects the information from each speed dater, the connections will be made. Those with mutual interest will be given contact information. Don't wait too long to follow up, or the woman may have already made her love connection with someone else.
Speed dating is a valid way to meet a lot of women in a short amount of time. Make the most of the experience by doing some advance preparation and jotting down a list of questions to ask each woman. Present a well groomed appearance, be confident, show interest in each woman and follow up afterward.
